New Orleans native Rick Delaup studied documentary filmmaking under renowned filmmaker, instructor, and author Michael Rabiger at Columbia College Chicago.
As an independent, award-winning filmmaker, Delaup’s films have been screened at festivals such as the American Film Institute, Charlotte Film and Video Festival, Dallas Video Festival, Indie Memphis Film Festival, and New Orleans Film Festival.
Notable works include Short Fuse: The Story of an AIDS Activist, which aired on WTTW in Chicago, and Ruthie the Duck Girl, which aired on WYES in New Orleans. He also shot and directed The Drum Buddy Show, and the Christmas classic North Pole Nutrias, collaborating with New Orleans entertainers Quintron and Miss Pussycat.
Delaup has spent many years documenting the history of New Orleans burlesque, recording interviews with over 40 former dancers, musicians, and comics, such as Evangeline the Oyster Girl, Rita Alexander the Champagne Girl, Tee Tee Red, Linda Brigette, Earl Palmer, Sam Butera, and Shecky Greene.
Delaup has spoken on New Orleans unique culture at festivals including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Tennessee Williams Festival, Tales of the Cocktail.
Delaup is also a live event producer, creating the stage show Bustout Burlesque, an authentic classic burlesque and variety show, and the annual New Orleans Burlesque Festival.
